54. Market Study on Some Selected Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCGs)

  Scope of the Project :

The consultants have made a systematic approach to develop a methodology consistent with the requirements of the market study, objectives, parameters and SME definition provided by the Local Enterprise Investment Centre (LEIC). Based on such analysis, the consultants have developed a solid, precise and overall understanding of the study. When selecting the SME's, the consultant will give importance to the enterprises which have a reasonable supply chain market and distribution channel of product. The information of this type of supply chain will help determine some local companies producing quality product and reasonable financial capacity.

  1. Comprehensive list of Fast Moving Consumable Goods (FMCGs) compatible to the large company's existing product.
  2. List of companies producing those products and willing to form a joint venture

Based on this requirement and nature of the FMCGs, the approach HB has taken is dividing the whole process into two major components.

  1. Market Survey
  2. Enterprise survey
While conducting the Market Survey, the surveyors will only survey the item / nature of the products in market places is six Divisional Head Quarters to collect the name of some selected FMCGs products which is described elaborately following part of this chapter. No enterprise survey will take place at this time. After the client finalizes the FMCGs products from the collected product list only then the enterprise survey will take place.
  Services Provided :

The estimated and maximum number of enterprises will be surveyed are 300 (Appx). So after the preparation of the final product selection it is estimated that against the final items selected by client, 300 enterprises (Appx.) will be surveyed/ identified through Key Informants interviews (KII). With prescribed questioners the surveyors will visit all the companies listed and finally selected by the client. A total of 15 skilled surveyors will visit according to selection of companies of the divisions. One interviewer will at least interview 4 enterprises in a day, so in five (5) days 15 interviewers will survey 300 enterprises. Two days are estimated for one trip. So, total working days are seven days.

Here are some vital information will be collected, they are:

  1. List of companies having fixed assets below 300 million
  2. List of employees
  3. Production Capacity
  4. Number of Machines
  5. Conditions of the Machines
  6. Annual Turnover
  7. List of companies Interested to form a join venture or not.

After the SME identification through Key Informants interviews (KII) is complete, the surveyors will turn in all the filled up questioners to the Project Coordinator cum Quality Control Expert. With the help of Data Analyst, the Project Coordinator cum Quality Control Expert will sort out all the information and prepare the list of companies Interested to form a join venture or not. The team will prepare a format which will include other necessary data / information to pave guideline to the LEIC and the concerned authority to form joint venture with the local prospective companies. Some major information like (1) List of companies having fixed assets below 300 million; (2) Production Capacity; (3) Number of Machines; (4) Conditions of the Machines; (5) Annual Turnover will have a great impact on the LEIC and the concerned authority to form joint venture with the local prospective companies.
